Body Damage is Cool
How about a swb montero with:

2.6L starquest turbo motor
km148 automatic
np231 crawl box(2.72 low) and twinstick d300 with 4:1 gears
35s
5.29 gears
8" Gen1 V6 front axles with ARB and lockout hubs
Gen2 airlocker rear axle
full belly skids

I bet it would rock crawl pretty damn good!

All good input, and thanks for all the responses! At this point, I'm leaning heavily towards the Montero, I like the looks better (a cosmetic thing only) - I think ti all comes down to what was said in a previous post - find the first rust free truck that comes along and then go from there.

It wouldn't be worth swapping axles from the isuzu for the support since ours are supported by newer monteros and the dealer still and ours come with lockers.

Well, the decision is made. I WILL be going with the Montero...assuming I can find one in decent shape here in the midwest/KC area. So, if ANYONE knows of anything fairly close to the area, drop me a line - I'll be checking Craigslist twice a day amongst other "for sale" sites as well.

I want to thank everyone who offered input on this, it really helped me make the decision. I'll let y'all know what I find, etc. when I do find one.

Thanks Again!

That is, hands down, one of the most useful "search" links I've seen in a long time - thanks!

Much appreciated - shoot me a PM if you come across anything. I've got an 'Wanted' ad on Craigslist and I'm combing the other sale sites, something will turn up.
