Getting the Wheeling Fever
I've found a '90 about 3 hours fomr KC, AZ vehicle - no rust...of course the motor is sitting in the back of the vehicle all torn down, supposedly ready for a rebuild - $500.

What y'all think?

That things been on CL FOREVER and then some the honda sitting right beside it was up for grabs once also.

Are you wanting a 4door? Personally Id hold out for a shortie to fix up and use a 4door as a parts rig but thats just me

Well that's a bummer - if it's been up there that long I wonder what ELSE is wrong. And yeah I'd prefer a 4-door personally...I like the extra room - got 2 kids to haul around dontcha know. LOL!

Ya its been on there a while to say the least. And its hard telling what else is wrong w/ it mitsus especially mitsu 4x4s dont move very fast around here.

Didnt know the kid thing.

IMO Colorado is alot more montero friendly last time I went out there I saw 4 or 5 of em just driving around out there. Compared to the 0 you normally see. But your on the wrong side of KS to go out to CO

I've had both a 2 and 4 door and wheel everything from hard core to easy trails.

Personally I prefer the 4 door because I can put everything into it for either a short or long trip plus when I get to camp, all I need to do is remove everything above my (upcoming) sleeping platform and imediately crash w/out having to set up a tent and I'm much safer from the local wildlife LOL.

Only for a little longer (5years, 6months, 2 days - but who's counting). Of course my son is 14 and agitating for his license...and HE wants a 2-door Monty/Raider, lol!

I've noticed that, and man if you aren't right about the "wrong side of Kansas", I'll keep looking - something will come up.

Opinions? I'm planning on purchasing this one...

1989 Mitsubishi Montero, Auto, 4x4, nearly 200,000 miles, Power windows and Locks, Locking rear differential. Blue has no rust some dents and dings, but overall in pretty good shape for age of vehicle. I was told when I purchased it; it had a motor put in a couple years ago. However I cannot prove that, but it does not smoke or use oil.

Locking rear dif? There's only one locking rear diff readily available for the Gen I v6 stock axle and that's an ARB air actuated unit. Alternatively they may have put in a gen II rear axle with the locking rear diff (also air actuated) so it is possible.

They could also have made a mistake in their description so check that.

Be sure you do a carfax.

To check if it's no longer the original motor, you can check the VIN stamp on the engine block against the VIN on the firewall. I don't recall exactly where that is on the block and if nobody else knows off the top of their head, you can also download & check the FSM's for that.

HTH and good luck with your search.
