Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have a 2001 kia sportage 4wd, and I do all my own work. Bombardji and Everet have been helpful, so any help from anyone will help me out. I am changing all 3 belts on the suv and i got the the powersteering belt, and was able to loosen it, but can't get it off or even retighten it. I got the other 2 off with the tension screw/nut and now I have this all apart, and if I can't change it, I need to at least get it tighten. Does anyone have any ideas? Any quick easy fix to this (other then just taking it off & dealing with it)? The other belts were easy but this one, no matter what angle I can't get it off, let alone tighten it, so even if I get it off and new one on, how do I tighten it back up.......Help I need this tomorrow for work and it's all ripped apart.....
I have changed the headgasket, sensors, thermostat but myself and really can't afford to take this in.

HELP>>>>>>>please!
Thank you <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

Body Damage is Cool
I'm lazy, I don't remove anything extra. I just loosen the bottom power steering bolt, REMOVE the top power steering bolt, pull the power steering pump as far away as it will go, and then force the belt out between the power steering pulley and the bracket. It's a tight squeeze but it will fit.

Then when I replace it, I use the Duralast belt Autozone sells that has notches in it, and the notches make it easier to squeeze the belt through the gap between the pulley and the bracket.

2002 Sportage 4dr 4x4 soon to undergo an Extreme Makeover!

i got by removing the 4 bracket bolts a bit, made enough room to squeeze it thru and worked like a charm....Taking things apart comes easy, since I have replaced the headgasket and chnaged the spark plugs 2x already by myself. But thanks........
