BTTT is Back To The Top.
Back to the top of the posts, or main list of topics. By Typing BTTT, it lets others view a topic that might be barried 5 pages deep. Allows new commers to spot the topic, and drudge up new ideas or info from thoes who might have wanted to post but got side tracked from it.
And monday would be the day that the post was placed at the top of the pile. Monday is a great tday for Forums...bored eyes at work, shared stories about weekend project updates, soforth.
Just my two cents.
WANTED: 1989-1991 Isuzu Trooper or Mitsubishi Montero, V6, Manual 5-speed, 4 door, Stock, Good looking in and out, runner/driver good. PM w/ info please.

By Typing BTTT, it lets others view a topic that might be barried 5 pages deep. How can this be? I saw it on the last page of your post. Allows new commers to spot the topic, and drudge up new ideas or info from thoes who might have wanted to post but got side tracked from it. ??? And monday would be the day that the post was placed at the top of the pile. I'm lost, what pile? Monday is a great tday for Forums...bored eyes at work, shared stories about weekend project updates, soforth. There you go again, what's a tday? Now I understand this sentence. I have no idea how BTTT would help, but you dealing with a Dummy here. I do know that BTTT has only been used, on 4x4wire, by one other person in the last five years and that was on 3/01/05. I'll ask my friendly moderator (Raymond) to explain it to me. I feel I may be lagging behind again. Sorry, I know I'm off topic again. Back to my nap.

I just test drove a Gen-1 Montero last night. It has 100K, V6, auto trans and stock as they come. Single owner, $2700.
I'm impressed. I only drove it on the street but I can tell you right now that this motor is way better than the 4cyl Trooper. This thing has great get up and go. I feel as if the ride height was a bit taller and it seemed a bit narrower to me too.
All in all I like the machine and will give this some more consideration.
What sort of things should I be looking for when I take a look at a used Gen-1 Montero? Of course I always check fluids and the usual stuff, but is there some tell tail signs of impending doom or certian sounds or so on that should be spotted before purchase?
....As for cash for clunkers - Its hog wash. We are told that this program is to help out the economy and the environment. REALY? How does this help my economy. I can not afford a new car, nor can I afford full coverage insurance. But uncle sam is using my tax dollar to help the upper middle class guy buy a new car. How many poor folks do you see driving smoking station wagons, or working on old truck in the front yard. Their the folks who could use the hand out and could use a new car.
How is this program helping my environment. Adding motor kill juice to a motor and then running it till it seizes!?! I understand that this process produces clouds of toxic smoke and takes up to 20 minutes per motor. And according to SEMA, it takes less energy to keep an exsisting car on the road than it does to produce a new car. And looking at things from an enviro mode, how about this; It is better to reuse parts, or replace small parts than to simply scrap grind and rebuild.
So I get to help a richer man buy a car I wish I could afford, and watch a perfectly good car get scraped. A car which could have been used to keep my machine up and running. A machine that I count on to get me and my family back and forth to work. Nice plan Uncle Sam! Thanks for thinking of the hard working, underpaid, behind the 8 ball guys in this country like me. I refuse to participate in this plan and hole hartedly plan on keeping what ever it is I buy up and running. I swear that if Uncle Sam thinks he can tell me what I drive, he can shove it. Whether its a hotrod, classic collector, or old SUV it shouldnt matter. This is America and if I feel a particular car has value and is my source of fun, then I should be alowed to keep it going and on the road. ![[Linked Image]](http://hphotos-snc1.fbcdn.net/hs269.snc1/9629_101082289908770_100000209971191_29414_4712849_n.jpg) I really liked your CFC rant SOOO true. My truck went 240+ on original heads, Now has almost 260k on her- Original bottom and tranny! Everything still works including AC! This what it looks like now. I have had both Monty's and troopers and loved them Had 1987 trooper with offroad pkg and 4cyc 5 speed, Only thing is the rust liked it to. troopers are easier to find paarts in yards for. but that to has changed some for the CFC's are loading up all the yards...

Man, that is a very sharp looking machine. Very solid and Oh So Clean. I like the Isuzu 4wd logo placed under the turn light. hahaha, I alway liked the style of that badge. Nice Swap over. I wonder what other sneakys you might have on that machine. And sasnydley you're right. The more I look into the Monteros the more I realize that they are not quite as plentiful as I had once thought. I've been paying close attention to the roads up here in Portland, I probably see 4 to 6 gen-1 Troopers for ever Gen-1 Montero. The yards are not all that promissing either. Currently I'm in no position to even think about buying a used one which needs work. So I'll keep my eyes peeled and continue to gather info. Thanks for the PHOTO

My Montero has been the best car I have ever owned. Not saying it hasn't had some issues. Right now it's again the Primary car since wifey's TDI steering rack is blowing fluid out both sides. That's gonna hurt the wallet since I don't have the time right this minute to replace and from what I hear it's an awful job.
