to be more specific the noise is something rattling in the back of the chassis. the missing problem is a little more real though. i played with the ignition timing a little and found a sweet spot where it almost ran correctly. does this sound like a timing advance problem? if so how would you go about figuring it out? thanks for your help.

ok so im sorry for the over reaction. the stutter was the ignition timing being 12 degrees later than it should be. my bad. the noise was an exhaust mount being twisted a little out of place and the pipe hitting the chassis somewhere. i guess i was just tired and frustrated. o well. hears a pic of my trooper for every one. by the way we should be leaving on Saturday. if the gremlins will let us . i like it. i am the second owner. the first was an older guy so it was driven easy. when i took off the head gasket i found out that it had been changed before. one of the dowel pins had been replaced with a piece of metal bent in to a circle. it was about a 16th of an inch to small. i took one out of a dodge stratus head and ground it down in diameter and length so it would fit correctly. i really hope it lasts. there shouldn't be to much force on it any way.

I am truly envious...you've got some nice equipment there! We're trying to decide on which kayaks my kid and I want to pick up. You''re going to have a great time!

we got perception blasts. they are pretty cool but i think they were discontinued. dick's sporting goods has a different perception that is almost the same though. the ones they have now look like they might be a little faster but a touch less stable. still though, with how hard it is to tip these you could lose some stability without hurting any thing. by the way, that canoe had three holes and a broken seat when i got it. it was easy to fix so i dont mind being rough on it wich is a plus .

Let me know the date you'll be coming up HWY 1 through Monterey, and I'll see what I can do. If nothing else, maybe we can meet for coffee or something. I can't make any promises yet, though. It's hard enough for me to keep track of what's happening tomorrow, lol!
