First gens aren't my specialty, but I have heard folks have had good luck with replacement heads from a company called "AMC" I believe...

Clearwater makes the one I put in my Mitsubishi 2.6L Raider a couple of years ago. I worked like a champ!

I put an AMC head in the Trooper when I rebuilt the engine 4 years ago. It works great, as well, and I'll post a link to the site if I can find it again.

EDIT: After doing a search for "AMC" in the Isuzu Tech section with a time frame of 5 years, I came up with this... AMC Retailer. The AMC link on their site is dead, so I'd give them a call!

I got my head in from clearwater yesterday. it is so beautiful. i started taking the trooper apart this morning but it has been raining for the last few hours so i had to stop. i envy you people who have the drive to clean your garages . i did do so gnarly damage to my thumb though.

that hurt a little. now i know not to get in a fight with the machined edge on the cam gear. any way lots of fun, ill post more pictures of the heads and so on.

i got the head out of the truck today. the new head looks so good next to the old one. [img][image]http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv25/SAW32rally/head001.jpg[/img][/image] the old one is just not as well cast. there are a few spots were you can see it if you look close [img][image]http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv25/SAW32rally/head002.jpg[/img][/image] and the new one is shiny [img][image]http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv25/SAW32rally/head003.jpg[/img][/image] the combustion chamber is cool to. there is not any real difference but it looks cool any way. [img][image]http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv25/SAW32rally/head004.jpg[/img][/image] [img][image]http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv25/SAW32rally/head005-1.jpg[/img][/image] this is just the engine torn apart. the cylinders still have the original hone marks [img][image]http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv25/SAW32rally/head006.jpg[/img][/image] this one is just because its cool to get a piece of hardware like this with your name on it [img][image]http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv25/SAW32rally/head007.jpg[/img][/image] so thats whats going on. more tomorrow. by the way, there is a big enough difference in weight that you can feel it when you pick the up one after the other. swwwweeeettttt!

i figured that would be a pain. i marked every hose and plug that i took out with bright green ducttape so i should be able to get it without to much trouble. i dont know if i have reinvented the wheel here but has any one else ever put all the bolts each piece in a sandwich bag and marked them? i did that for the first time on this job and it works really well. any way, just throwing that out there.
