What do want to know? I've covered over 100 trails each year for the past 3 years in Utah, Arizona, & Colorado. If you are coming to Salt Lake Via the north you could first hit up Providence Canyon which is in Providence Utah (rated 5.0 on a 10 scale). It takes you to the top of Mt Logan. You can return via Millville Canyon which drops you into Hyrum (rated 4.0) both trails are featured frequently in various mags amoungst them 4wd & SU Mag mainly due to Phil Howell being a resident of that area. Once you complete those two trails you have pretty much nothing until you hit the Salt Lake Valley. Two short trails are 22 miles west of Lehi that being Rattlesnake (5.0) and Contrictor (7.0) and an optional obstacle in between them known as Waynes World (solid 9.0). Once you are done there if you are heading to Canyonlands via Route 6 you would be doing yourself a massive injustice if you did not hit the San Rafael Swell. It has everything Moab has to offer and then some. Run Buckhorn Wash (2.0) which starts 1 mile north of Castle Dale. It has a gargantuen pictograph panel as well as a dinosaur track and inscription from Matt Warner part of the Butch Cassidy Gang. It as well has just of of it the MK Tunnels were NORAD was going to be until it failed the bomb testing. After you are done there stay in the swell and run Fix it Pass (5.0) then Devils Racetrack (6.0), double back to run Eva Conaver (5.0) to Eagle Canyon(4.0) this will dumb you right onto I-70. You as well would have an optional run there of Copper Globe Mine. Once you exit the Swell you could head down to Canyonlands. All three areas of Canyonlands require a permit, the maze can take years to get (I just got back from that trip). The best section of Canyonlands would be the Needles District. Run Elephant Hill, to Bobbys Hole, to Beef Basin, to Cottonwod Wash to the highway, then head up Hotel Rock. This area has Anazasi Cliff Dwellings all over the place if you know where to look. O'yeah don't miss Butler Wash while you are in the area, it's an Anazasi city. I can go on and on and on. Let me know what time frame you are traveling because that may limit you do to the 70' of snow we get annually in our mountains, let me knoe the highway route you are taking and I can map out a perfect route for you where you are rarely on the pavement. I'll even send it to you in a gpx file so you can upload it to a GPS. Also if you happen to be in our backyard you are more than welcome to join our club on one of our monthly multi-day runs. They are always phenominal http://www.zutah.com
