I hope you can find one now that alot of folks have traded some decent stock vehicles in for the REDICULOUS cash 4 clunkers program. I know of 3 very good condition GEN I's in my town that just got sent to the chopping block. It is a shame. I used to be big into FJ40 Land Cruisers, the more uncommon they became the more valuable they were and are. Same for parts.

I hope you can find a good one in your price range. I see alot of fluctuation in price range on these vehicles, I think it just depends what region you are in and how common you come across them. I had a great condition stock 91 LWB LS for a while and I sold it in Idaho for $3,500 a year or so ago. It only had 130K miles on it. I kind of regretted selling so I bought another 89 3.0 V6 2 door that I found on Autotrader for around $2,500 (130K miles, one owner) Both of these vehicles have been in excellent shape mechanical, body, interior, etc.

I guess my point in telling you this is 1) good condition vehicles are getting harder to find 2) KBB doesn't always apply. The vehicle is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. 3) be patient and if you see one that is priced higher than 2K consider it, it might be worth the few extra hundred bucks to get a hassle free Montero. All that said, I've seen decent 90+ LWB vehicles with a bad engine for next to free. If it was well taken care of, that might be a good way to go. Good luck with your search.
