None listed for the 2.6 Raider, so I am making my own. It's not as slick as one of the ABS ones, but it will be functional. I love having hillbilly friends who "with a cuttin torch and a stick welder we can fix anything" mentality. [Linked Image] [Linked Image] [Linked Image]

I like the idea! (there is actually one listed for gen 1 montys, but...)

My only thought is that it looks very small. The aftermarket ones are quite a bit larger. Is the motor going to be able to pull enough air through that small tube for the length?

Nice job <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

You need to run 3 inch pipe to have enough airflow.

Hmmm. Great. It's 2 1/4" muffler tubing. I fitted it to the hose from the air cleaner to the fender. I'm wondering why does it have to be 3" tubing?

There are friction losses in the tube, and turbulence in the crimp bends. Those lead to flow losses, which lead to power losses. I'd use 3" (almost twice the cross section area) abs plastic tube, maybe sch20 or thereabouts wall thickness. Much slicker than steel, too.

Gonna be tough to use a larger hole saw on that hole unless you mount a block of wood to center the pilot drill.

Well' it's made and going to give it a shot. It's all stock' and I've seen some 6 cylinder Rangers playing in the mud with the same set-up so I think for my application it will work. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

I hope posting these pics works. The first couple should show the mounting brackets with nutserts, then some pics with the snorkel mounted. I still will mount a bracket on the roof pillar, plus one in the engine compartment right before the intake hose connection. I hope its sturdy enough. If the nutserts give me any flex' I'll mount the brackets with nuts and fender washers from inside the engine compartment. Here is the first bracket mounted, the Nutserts are good and tight, the bracket feels fairly stiff on the fender.
This is the 2nd brackets holes with the nutserts installed

Just to see what it will look like, still a couple more brackets needed.
