And there's the rattle can fusion paint that bonds to plastic. And pvc glue primer is a good surface prep, in clear or purple.
ABS dwv (drain waste vent) pipe is tough enough, and light enough gauge, to make a good snorkel, and comes in 90*, 45*, and 22.5* bends with slip ends. As does pvc electrical conduit, which is heavier wall than dwv pipe. I think you could run either unsupported from fender to windshield frame, which would let you do without brackets to the fender. You could make metal brackets that attach inside the door opening for the riser section. With dwv, you could use a rectangular floor drain fitting with a grate for the inlet. I would not glue the inlet, so I could turn it to the rear for heavy rain, unless I had some kind of float drain in the system somewhere.
Not responsible for advice not taken...

I'm thinking of making one that runs through the "wiper cover" on the passenger side and out the top of the passenger side cowl and up the windshield. Mine will most likely be PVC as well. I like it. Thought about that as well. Have you pulled the wiper cover? I wonder if there is enough room in there to clear the linkage. (Obviously haven't looked myself.)

I haven't pulled it yet. The only thing I dont like about the "real" snorkel is the fact that it hangs off the side. I'm sure I could manage to rip it off with a tree branch or something. I plan on tapping a downspout with a cap for a drain when I get to it. I'd rather spend $30 than $250 on something I could rip off. Right now I'm getting my driveshaft lined out. Napa found the u joint I need. I get it tomorrow.

FWIW I drove my truck down a washout with the entire truck resting on the snorkle for about 50 yards. It caught the bird catcher part, and ripped it, but the snorkle body was unharmed. Those things are seriously tough.

The 2 Grasscat and I purchased through the source on ebay makes them using fiberglass. If the break, they will hopefully be relatively easy to patch/fix.

Well, maybe not the kind you're probably thinking of but yup, some kind of heavy duty concoction that's already held up to hitting a low hanging branch at speed (25-30mph). I was on an off ramp and had to perform an emergency maneuver to get around stopped traffic.
I guess you'll have to see them to believe them.

Question for Landraider... What were you planing on using for the top (scoop)? I'm gonna make mine happen in a few weeks. I just want some ideas that wont cost me lots of $$$. Anyone?

Possibly a Sweep T/Y/U of some sort.
There's some engineering that needs to be taken into consideration with the top though.
First off.... It needs a screen. Birds have tried to take up residence in my truck in 1 day before.
Then, it needs to be designed so that it can ingest rain water going down the road at 70 mph. The Safari snorkle does this by having the water hit the inside of the scoop, and run down, but drain out of the scoop where it meets the tube.
I'd leave the top loose enough to swing around by hand. My scoop got ripped up by some roots on an embankment because I did not turn it around.
Turning it around on the trail sure seems to cut down on the amount of leaves/sticks/pine straw that gets into my air cleaner.
