This is not an actual photo or anything...I was not doing that back then...not really doing now either...lol
Its all I had to go by when I did this.
Just sits right in the back of the knuckle.
Thought I had one somewhere....I will have a look and if I find it I will throw it up here.

well bearings are done and my noise is still with me and the bearings have nothing to do with the half shaft so i should have known better because they dont even make contact with each other. they needed changed anyway pretty easy job. next question is what does the half shaft ride on inside the spindle? didnt take that apart yet until i get the axle so i guess that will be next weekend project 4x4 still works so if it aint broke wheel thats what im going to do.

The Needle Bearing holds the inner part of the half axle when it is all the way in, and the hub holds the outer part of it. If your needle bearing is gone it will make noises and you will not be able to figure it out until you take it all apart and look at it. I was so confused with this myself until I got it apart and saw the shape of the bearing....Now and then it made no noise...but when it did make noise it was not nice.

Check the needle bearing.

17 bucks in Vancouver I think it was. I bought a few of them...have extras in the truck...lol
Also....I just remembered.....I replaced the half shaft on the drivers side before I knew about the needle bearing...Expensive way to trouble shoot.
I still have that half shaft as there is nothing wrong with it after all.
Did I ever feel like a tool after that....lol

Hope it all goes good for you guys.

Just called kia and they are 15.94 plus tax here. Like said previously strange they are not that expensive. Now just have to find some numbers for the inner and outer as i will try to these at the bearing store...If anyone has any numbers for these would help alot. This is for a 01 sportage EX.
