I smogged mine a day or two after doing the combustion chamber treatment..If your running 1/2 the can through the fuel system as recommended on the can, I would run it all the way to almost empty then refill with premium before the next test.

I changed my oil right before passing the test as well, not sure if that helped or not. But it may help, as old oil may have some impurities in it from the seafoam/fuel which could possibly cause an increase in emmissions if it burns off if it makes it way past the rings on the cyl walls...

Also. Did you conform your timing as good to go?

I changed the oil and oil filter one day before the first test.

Did you test the EGR valve? If you apply vacuum to the EGR valve at idle, it should stall the engine if it is working.

If you read your emissions results, (Post them if possible!)if there is any CO reading with high NOX present most likely need a new cat. It might still have a warranty, check your receipt.

A guy I know fails every time with his car, then puts in a new cat and passes. He goes to some local joint that fits in a universal for $90.

I just failed with my 92, but with lower levels than you are posting. I read Justice's and other threads. No EGR on my 95 with CA emissions...???

I gave it SeaFoam in all three inputs. Then when the tank was low, changed the oil, put in 1/4 tank 95 octane, and then some booster as well. Also had some cat leaks at the seams that I patched up. Just past on the second try.

I forgot the emissions stuff to post. I'll post tonight, and am planning on buying some Seafoam on my way home as well. I'm planning on a retest this weekend or early next week. I would hate to replace the cat.

25mph 1939 14.5 0.8 98 42 0.87 0.00 859 2455
Result - GROSS POLLUTER/GROSS POLLUTER
The gas tank still had some of the fuel system cleaner in it when this test was run.

Things done since -
Ran a can of SeaFoam in the fuel tank and crankcase.

To do -
Test check the vacuum lines and EGR.
Test check the EGR Temp Sensor.
Test check the Oxygen Sensor.

Note: I have service records going back to day one and the O2 sensor has never been replaced

As a last option I will replace the Cat.

Thoughts?

Sounds like a solid plan. If you still have original 02 Sensor I would consider replacing it. I think I used oxygensensors.com fast service and a decent price for a denso unit with oem type connector. Also did you clean the EGR port in the intake that runs in the plenumn from the Pipe to the valve? Mine was full of carbon. In my opininon if you get it running right you should be able to get it to pass without replacing the cat..

That was the only part I did not clean. I need to get a wire brush and go at it. I'll keep everyone posted.

I'll give that a try. We have plenty on inclines here in SF. The steepest paved road in the western US is outside my front door.
