So how do I take apart the steering column to get at this switch and wiring bundle. This column has also has a mechanism at the top to prevent auto theft. You insert a key in the slot, push down a lever and the steering wheel comes off. When I do that, there are four "star" fasterers, but they just keep spinning when I turn them, without coming undone.

Gerry you have completely lost me.. Got a photo you can post? Perhaps someome else on here knows what that device is.. I never saw one that I am aware of.. Does it have a NAME written on it that I can Google?
