Getting the Wheeling Fever
Don't want to pay the stealer $400 to change my pcv on the 93 3.0 12v. What a STUPID design!!! Are there any tricks, impossible to reach blots, or general suggestions to make this a painless as possible? My mechanic ability is on the low side of medium. I'm not afraid to jump in and get at it but figured i'd ask here first. Also as long as the plenum is off are there any other things that I might look at or fiddle with?

Read through the first couple of sections of Valve Stem Seal Replacement Procedure to get an idea of what's involved. The nut closest to the firewall can be a real bugger to get at, especially to replace. I've had good success using one of those telescoping magnet part retriever... things (Yeah, it must be a technical term ) to get it started. Also, when all the bolts/nuts are removed you may need to work the heater hose a bit to gain room to get the plenum all the way off the back stud -- it's got a weird little tab that hangs up on the hose.

Let's see, what else? If you've got an EGR (and I'm not sure you do with that year) be very careful of the pipe with the accordion-like portion in the middle. That area tends to fatigue and crack easily over the years and I'm told they are hard to find and/or replace.

Good luck with it. I agree... it's a stupid design and a pain-in-the- just to replace the PCV valve, but it's not too difficult!

There is a bolt right behind the throttle body that you cant really see.

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.
