A slight correction to sunder's info, The TPS has three wires, (the IAC has four wires).
The Jeep JTEC OBD-2 system will go into closed loop in about 15 seconds once the O2 sensor warms up. If the O2 sensor heater is defective, but the circuit is not open, there might not be any codes. If the sensor is not heated properly, (internally) it will give false info to the PCM and cause crappy running!
Have you tried sunder's earlier advice and disconnected the upstream O2 to see how it runs in open loop?

Ooops... My fault I was thinking signal, reference, ground and power... Forgot reference and power are the same thing...
I'm all about the stupid typo's/mistakes lately.

i know its been a while but my internet at home is disabled for some reason...so anyways, i tested the tps with a digital meter and it looks to be fine. as for the anti freeze leak its from the water pump. i also found a few more issues, like i need a new oil pan its starting to leak. and i have an exhaust leak at the first connection from the header to the cat.
but its still sputtering, i still have to find the cause. at this point i might just bring it in and have them run a diognostic. but still open to suggestions

Test the MAP sensor with a multi meter, perhaps run a compression test as well?

Google is our friend.. Inspect vacuum lines at MAP sensor and at Throttle Body. Repair as needed.
WHEN TESTING THE MAP SENSOR, ENSURE THAT THE HARNESS WIRES ARE NOT DAMAGED BY THE TEST METER PROBES.
Test the MAP Sensor output voltage at the MAP Sensor connector terminal B (as marked on the sensor body). This is done with the ignition switch ON and the engine OFF. Output voltage should be 4-5 volts. The voltage should drop to 1.5-2.1 volts with a hot, neutral idle speed condition. Test engine controller (terminal 5) for the same voltage as described above to verify the wire harness condition. Repair as necessary. Test MAP Sensor supply voltage at sensor connector (terminal C) with the ignition ON. The voltage should be approximately 5V (+/- 0.5V). 5V (+/- 0.5V) should also be at terminal 6 of the engine controller wire harness connector. Test the MAP Sensor ground circuit at the sensor connector (terminal A) and the engine controller connector (terminal 4). Test the MAP Sensor ground circuit at the engine controller connector between terminal 4 and terminal 11 with an ohmmeter. If the ohmmeter indicates an open circuit, inspect for a defective sensor ground connection. This connection is located on the right side of the cylinder block, at the oil dipstick tube mounting stud. If the ground connection is good, replace the engine controller. If terminal 4 has a short circuit to 12V, correct this condition before replacing the engine controller.

finally back, been out of town for a while. thanks for the info big jim. i'll do this test over the weekend. but in the mean time ive put some mystery oil injector cleaner in the gas tank. the reason because a machaninc was telling me that he had to replace one injector every year for some reason on his own car. He was on his fourth injector when he decided to try the mystery oil...he hasn't had to change one since. he only adds it to the fuel about once a year. so i figured it couldnt hurt. but like i said i will still check the map sensor.

I have never cleaned my injectors once; I have 210K on mine. The only thing I do is a fuel filter every 4 years. Unless your filter physically broke, there is no place for stuff do get into the injectors. Anyways, that stuff that gets diluted into your tank is garbage. The only way to go is with on of those cleanings that tie into the fuel rail and the car literally runs off the stuff...

ok so everything checked out good with the map sensor. but ever since i added the "myster oil" injection cleaner it hasnt sputtered at all. i ran the gas tank down to almost completely empty. so maybe the cleaner worked and maybe it didnt it might of been bad gas. i dont know but its running fine. so thanks to everyone who lended a helping hand. now on to fix all my leaks...oil pan, steering lines, water pump...and until the sputtering comes back.

If you let it leak all you ever need to do is filter changes and keep the fluids topped... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" />
