I'm curious, was any generation of the Montero ever equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes? If so which one(s)?

TMK, no gen1 had rear disks but there are swap options for both leaf sprung and coil sprung gen1's.

My gen1 has rear discs. It also has a 95SR rear axle.
I always wanted to try to put discs from a Montero Sport on the gen1 9in.
I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

Is there a write-up for the V6 brake swap? The swap plus a Sport axle sounds like a good all-around upgrade for us 4 pots.

I put the 95 SR in my SWB 90 - it's a great add for what was originally an under braked vehicle. Well worth the effort to get the result. Stops better than my 05 4 Runner and my SC 400 under non abs conditions.

I did the montero sport rear swap on my gen1 and love it. if the rig has leaf springs, read land raiders write up. http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showf...;amp;page=0&fpart=1&vc=1

TMK, no gen1 had rear disks but there are swap options for both leaf sprung and coil sprung gen1's. My 1989 Gen1 (Japan Import) has disk brakes all-round (on 4.875 axles). I have subsequently changed to front to Gen2 twin-pot callipers, which is a straight bolt-on process except for * trimming the dust shield. * bending the brake pipe a touch.
