hi all, i have the engine i took out of my trooper, for sale. it comes with all accessories except radiator. this means it will run complete when you buy it! i also have the 4wd tranny for it. this engine runs good, has new glow plugs. will need front and rear main seal done, they are both leaking and are one of the reasons i pulled it in the first place. the second reason being the leaking plug in the back of the injection pump. the part is around $18 from isuzu, but it does leak fuel at the moment. i have a new timing belt, entire engine gasket set, 3 new oil filters, new oil pressure switch, and a clutch kit still in the box for this engine and tranny combo. please feel free to ask any questions, as well as offer me some money! i am looking to get at least $500 for the engine alone, and at least another $300 for the transmission. let me know what you want, and we will go from there!

so people have been asking for more info, here goes:
--->this is from an 86 4 door trooper. mileage on odometer is 220k. i put less than 10k on it myself.
the PO bought it from the original owner, who said the engine was replaced by isuzu in 90 or 91. but the body was damaged, side swiped and he parked it not long after. then the PO had it for a few years, stripped it down, started working on the body, brakes, etc.he sold it to me, unfinished with new parts that he had not put on, and the list of engine work he was planning to do-all of which is normal maintenance, nothing major since the engine had been replaced less than 100k before by isuzu. engine runs well, started for me every time, never left me stranded, doesnt smoke unless under heavy acceleration, starts with normal glow plug timing, runs smoothly, doesnt seem to burn oil, although it does leak plenty of it as mentioned. comes with upper and lower radiator hoses, oil overflow/blowby tank, fan cowl if you want it, accelerator cable, clutch cable,AC pump needs work, it chirps. i have all the AC parts if you want them too. i took the AC out of my 4JB1 as well. i am sure i have more parts, once i get the garage organized, and the basement too, there will probably be more thrown in if it is wanted.
Transmission is a 5 speed, 4x4 which had synthetic fluids in it the whole time i had it. it shifts as well as one would expect, its not perfect but has no grinding or chirping. stays in all gears, operates in all gears. no rattles, no squeaking, it is 23 years old, so it has a particular way it likes to be shifted, meaning the shift pattern is something that you pay attention to, and relish in the fact that the machine has its own way. it does not like to shift into first unless stopped. which, because it is geared so low, is really the only time you would want to use first anyway. it has never failed to shift, or been stuck in any gear, i am just saying that it is a used part that already has a history and it should be noted.
it does come with a new clutch, not installed, and my clutch, still installed. because of the rear main leak, i was going to replace the clutch when i did the seal. but i got a good deal on the 4JB1 so i went for it.
i am in asheville north carolina, i prefer pickup but if buyer wants to arrange a shipping option, i think USHIP is probably the best deal. i can strap it to a pallet, and have an engine hoist.
i am firm on my starting prices, i think they are more than fair considering the extraneous parts that will be accompanying the future owner. and considering the i am reasonably sure the engine was replaced by isuzu and may well have gen 3 rods, i think the mileage is relatively low and if well maintained, will last quite a long time. i am willing to accept trades, any offer will be considered but keep in mind that $500 and $300 are as low as i will go, please surprise me! possible trades would be, nice interior stuff for the trooper, suspension lift kit for trooper, 3rd row seat for trooper, all seats really, safari roof rack, winch, one more "snowflake" pattern rim, shortwave radio for trooper, gas can rack for trooper, trailer to pull behind trooper, a MIG welder or stick, .556 rifles,7x62 rfiles, and/or ammunition for them. but, like i said, open to anything....just something to think about, thanks again for the interest!
