Can't say that I know much about the 4 cyl. I bought an '89-V6 from my father-in-law for $75 last year. It had 229,000 miles on it. The only thing that doesn't work is the rear window defroster. I put about 3000 miles on it & the oil pressure started to fade. I dropped in a new long block & drive it every chance I get.The V6 has power to spare, it has never let me down. I've gotten out of every tight spot I've ever been in w/ it.(That's more than I can say for my '95 Silverodo Z71)I wish I could find another 1 just like it.Good luck w/ your research....
