THe turbo conversion is basicly swapping in a Starion / Conquest factory turbo system in. Same basic motor. There is a thread on the conversion at the top of the main Mitsubishi page. Stock HP is 197 and the torque is about 230 ft lbs.

Very easy to get more TQ and it comes on at a low RPM.

Fun setup to drive.

Do any of you know how much the Montero 4door weighs?? Just curious

Everything you wanted to know about the Montero but were afraid to ask...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Pajero

And the second link, a review, lists the curb weight at 3,979 lbs.

Pardon if I am getting a little OT but I couldn't let this one slip. I followed the links above and the review By Jim Mateja -Chicago Tribune November 21, 1988- read:

Montero`s four-wheel-drive system is a part-time unit that requires you get out and lock the hubs to engage. Those television ads featuring Ford and Chevrolet trucks crossing water and the Ford drivers having to get out and lock hubs is an effective means of promoting the benefits of full-time four- wheel drive.

That's what you get from someone who's car knowledge comes from mail brochures and no time behind the wheel.

I agree - I shoulda read the whole review, I just looked at the first one that contained the vehicle weight and posted the link, lol! That's actually funny when you think about how he phrases it...almost sounds like he works in the PR department of Ford/Chevy.

Well, the fella is correect about some of our Gen1s......

I do have to get out of the truck to perform the manly ritual of engaging the hubs. Anything else would be..... well...... ummmm...... civilized.

Not true Dave, some early Monteros came with locking hubs. Man you're getting senile or is it old age?
