From a company that shares the same name as every other Chinese restaurant in the USA? http://www.greatwallmotors.com.au/?gclid=CN_Phcyl4pwCFRyfnAodTHw-JgI saw this ad in the Google box on the login phrase. You'd think...with 1.1 Billion people in china...they could design that isn't a ripoff of what appears to be some Nissan/Subaru love child.

It also costs too much since it is from China.

19k Australian $ is about 16k US$ so it seems about right for a fully loaded chinese truck.

They can't, it is a side effect of 60+yrs of communist control. It takes a society of free thinkers to invent/design something new, all a communist society can do is produce poor copies of another's work, or in this case two others work.

No, but I wouldn't buy a (new) truck from an American manufacturer, either. Someone needs to get back to basic trucks and build something mid-size - like the size of the Colorado/Canyon...... but simple, tough as nails and cheap. If it can be done, it'll likely come out of South Korea or China. I'd give China the edge on strength and simplicity, but South Korea the edge on quality at a price. Sadly, Hyundai is thinking about trucks from a styling perspective, rather than utility: web pageAlternatively, Mitsubishi could buy Jeep.... and build some really nice and cheap 4WD basic trucks for this market - if they moved production to China. Some things we dont have a choice of NOT buying chinese made, cell phones, vaccums, toasters. Thankfully, with cars, we do. I have seen quite a few, not all of course (and what is put on YouTube may be intentionally bad) "made in china" vehicle crash test video's, and not a single one has swayed me to purchase a chinese made car if they were to become for sale here in America. I'm not convinced on the India made trucks either. The phrase "You get what you pay for" comes to mind. I think even the PajeroJR and Mini did better in crash tests than that thruck in Sparkem's link. And that was only at 40, imagine at freeway speeds, YIKES!
