Someone needs to get back to basic trucks and build something mid-size - like the size of the Colorado/Canyon...... but simple, tough as nails and cheap.
Sadly, I don't think we're going to do much better than the trucks we're rebuilding right now... It's cheaper and probably more reliable to put a few grand into a early 90s pickup so it runs another quarter million miles.

We had a few Great Wall trucks in Iraq for running around base... That is, when they were running!
Biggest POS on the market, period. The older models looked like Hilux ripoffs, while these newer ones look a lot like a Nissan and Mitsu grafted together.

I agree, even though the reliability doesn't kick in until the whole dang truck is rebuilt. My Mighty Max now has 280k. The next thing I'll do is replace the dash and instrument cluster (dash is beginning to crack and trip odometer doesn't work). While the dash is out, I'll have access to the speedometer cable, which might be the source of my mystery noise. I have a replacement instrument cluster which only shows 175k miles, When I put that in, the truck should run a lot better and it might keep me from having to rebuild the front end. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> I'd really like to have something a little bigger than the Mighty Max. A crew cab Frontier short bed looks just about right to me, but I haven't driven one. Frank

The crew cab Frontier is nice and has plenty of room for four adults. Mine has the 4.0 V6 and is great at highway speeds. The only thing I don't have that I wish I did is 4WD.
