At the risk of stating the obvious, Roger you are a genius. The short throw kit is more the solution I was looking for, My fingers are only 2 inches from touching my knees when I'm standing straight up so the actual length is not the problem. The problem is exactly as you stated in the short throw write up.

I run a 3" body lift, and so i could use the stock boots, i bought a URD Short shifter kit, and 4crawler t-case short shifter kit. they both raise the shift points up 1 inch, and shorten the throw. i use the stock boots. LCEngineering also makes a complete bolt in short shifter but it's more money and doesnt have the dampening factor the stock shift lever has. i had to slightly modify the urd one, but it may bolt in depending on the year (works fine on some, slight modification on others).
