Transmission seems to work fine in all forward gears in 2wd, TOD and 4x4Low. Reverse doesn't work in 2wd or TOD but does work a little bit in 4x4low. With the winter option on it will grab momentarily but lets go right away.

The truck sat for an unknown amount of time without fluid before my dad bought it this winter. While he was working on it for a couple months this winter it reversed once in 2wd, and once a couple days ago when I got here to see what I could do.

Has anyone run into this, or got any suggestions as to a solution? I have searched for similar problems but have come up empty.

We don't have too long to play around with it but any info would be appreciated.

I know nothing about automatics or 2nd Gen Troopers, but I will bring this to the top in hopes that someone with the right knowledge will respond.

Thanks Jim! I wasn't able to get back and update this thread till now.

We have figured out a solution to our problem. Right now with all the cars being turned in to the Cash For Clunkers program there are a lot of very good cars in the California junk yards with ruined engines. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> What they are forced to do to get the vehicle from the program is remove the oil in the crank case and replace it with Sodium-silicate and then run it till the engine seizes.

So.. We picked up a Transmission w/SOTF transfer case with a 90 day warranty from one of the places that pulls parts and resells them for $450.00.

Finished installing it and testing it today, it runs great.
