We don't pull or ship any parts - it's a DIY yard.

Brendan -

Here's the website:

web page

I'll be at corporate meetings early next week. While there, I want to get legal clarification on how much of these vehicles can be sold as a unit. I know I can't sell the entire assembled vehicle minus the engine as a unit, but I want to see if I can sell a rolling chassis and/or a complete body as separate assemblies. It would be a tough job to remove a Montero body on a display yard, but it could be done.

Frank

So, for us in states that are non title after 15 years, can that be sold with just a bill of sale?

Hi Charlie,

The laws vary so much from state-to-state that I won't try to interpret. It's difficult to even determine what some individual states require.

You could not put this body on another frame and use the VIN that's on the door and dash for registration purposes, because the VIN will be retired when we crush the remainder - even if it's only the engine.

I believe it's illegal for anyone to remove a VIN from any individual part - whether it's used on another vehicle or not - but some states will allow you to put the body from one vehicle on another frame and vice-versa so long as you have receipts for the parts.

Since these clunkers are somewhat VIN sensitive, I want to get a legal opinion before I sell any large assemblies.

Frank

Hypothetically speaking, who would know? Of course, I'm not suggesting anyone does anything illegal.

OMG, sorry but I can't control myself. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> This is too painful <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> Ok, OK I am not going to shed a tear I promise.

What a waste!!! and 5spd!!! WOW. I prefer M/T to A/T

Now, I got to ask. What happen to these C4C vehicles? are they crushed or are they taken to a JY to be parted out? Is everything available but the engine? or is it also available? I know their internals are trashed but accesories -plenum, head covers etc..- are still usable.
What happen to these?

Javy
