Amperage depends entirely on the pump design, rate of flow, pressure required and efficiency. For a low pressure carbureted system, amperage is generally low, but you should consult the pump specifications.

Be careful where you mount the pump. Some work fine near the tank, but others don't have a lot of lift or pump to much head. It's sometimes best to mount them midway in elevation between the tank and carburetor - sometimes necessary to mount them at a lower level than the tank. Again, consult the directions with the pump.

The pump needs only a power lead and a ground and the ground is usually terminated very near the pump. If you choose to run long power or ground leads, be sure the wire is of sufficient diameter to avoid a voltage drop. If you mount the pump near the tank, run the power lead along the frame, but protect it from chafing.

Power to the pump should be supplied through a relay. The relay can be triggered by the coil (+).
