UPDATE:

I just spent many hours trying to figure out what the problem was. Still haven't solved it. The resistor had a coil springy looking thing on it that was broken, so I replaced the resistor. That was $40. Still no blower fan. I connected the blower fan directly to the battery, and it whirled away. Ok, great, so now what. I decided to check out the heater control unit and noticed something interesting. I noticed that my AC (air conditioning light wasn't illuminating. It seems as though there is no power going to the heater / AC contol unit. I read through the manual hoping there would be a fuse somewhere besides the fuse panel, but I couldn't find one. The only fuse I could find on the fuse panel that was related was a "heater" fuse. Obviously I checked it and it was fine.

So how do I locate the wire that powers the heater control unit in the dash? Is there a fuse for this?
