Need a Spot
Hey guys,

I have an 89 Raider with the 2.6 and the 5 spd manual.

I did a SAS and am wondering if there is anyway to upgrade the front transfer case output u joint size. Right now, the u joint is soo small and it is my weak link. Are there any other t-cases out there that will bolt up to the mitsu 5 speed, or an upgrade as far as the front u joint at the transfer case?

Thanks guys

a rear 4 cyl drive shaft is what you need in front <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I wouldn't worry too much about that uni. PAJ_ERO hasn't broken one yet and that's with crawler gears, lockers and 35's out rock crawling. If you swap an auto you can use jeep np231, you might want to leave that front drive shaft your weak link for now aren't you running a dana 30?

One solution is to take the front output yoke, chop the 'u-joint' end off and have a flange welded to the splined section. Pull the front output shaft and drill the end for a big bolt and drill through the flange into the splined section so the two can be bolted together. Surprise! Fixed output. With the flange you can drill it to attach anything you want. Mine was originally set up for a Toy CV. Worked fine for years until I finally swapped everything out in March for an NP231 with a doubler.
