Could the proportioning vavle be eliminated or would it need to be replaced with a manual one?

I have a v6 booster to go on also, but it is not clear to me if the v6 master cylinder is required or is also considered an upgrade.

Trucks with the light butt really need the prop valve. I'd use the stock d-50 one.

I'd put the v6 m/c on before the booster...

Ive talked to guys that have replaced the stocker for a tunable one, they say the stopping ability is way better. I need to find a V6 brake booster for my lil 2wd

The truck is a long bed with a heavy quad tube class 3 bumper hitch.

I already have a master for a 90 v6 montero. But before i got the combo on The stock master went out right before a trip and i put another stock one on rather than open a can of worms in the dead of winter.

I think the stock 87 on 4cly truck master is already bigger than the ones they put on the older 4cly monteros?

I take it the 87 does not have rear lockup control? My 93 2wd does not but the 94 4wd does.
Keep in mind the front brake line runs through the rear proportioning valve so that needs to be routed directly.
If you do run without a prop valve and get some rear brake lockup then swap in the 2nd gen front calipers, that should give enough increase in front brakes to do the job.
Even a set of grippier front pads may be enough. I run Hawk HPS pads on my 94 MM and 95 SR. Allot more grip than what the trucks came with.

95 Montero SR 3.8 DOHC Only one?

Then a Gen2 SR with full coil independent suspension.

I replaced the original proportioning valve on my old MM with a manual one under the hood. I replaced all the brake lines when I had the body off the frame and the old valve was frozen. My motive for going manual was $$$ not that I thought I knew better than the engineers that designed the system.

Once I had the manual valve dialed in with the V6 brake components, it did great w/ 33s.

IMO, that's the worst area for rust on these trucks. That's where the frames rot too.

Never seen/heard a MM frame rust very much before. My 91 3.0 spent atleast a few years in Utah. Lil flaking but not much. Now my 95 SR spent its whole life in northern KS has as much frame rust as my 91 MM

How do you guys feel about brass fittings? A lot of the unions and adapters are sold in brass.

My blue 87 that came from Vermont broke in half when the loader carried it back through the j/k yard. Rip. Do not worry it was stripped hard.
