Lookin' good Greg!!

I use dielectric gel on plastic/rubber that needs a little help. Put a very light coat on your radiator hoses when you reach that point, and they'll work right on for you.

Wow... that saved my ... best tip so far! LOL...

This post will be dedicated to how much i hate downey and am glad they are no longer in business. Judging by the quality of my headers... i don't know how anyone was not pissed with buying from them.

OK here are the headers, with V-band clamps welded on and re-ceramic coated (i'll get to that)
[Linked Image]

The flanges... after i drilled them out to accept the stock OEM metal gasket, and got them milled flat because the flange was so warped...
[Linked Image]
The collecter pipe after i spent 3 hours hogging them out... because the welds were taking away 10% of the diameter of the tube... wow great work downey... also it's XMC coated for less friction / even better heat retention (ceramic + xmc drop the outside temp by 50%.... critical when running so close to the starter and clutch and fuel and brake lines...)
[Linked Image]

In the middle of blowing out the little pellets from the ceramic coating... oh guess what, there is a clear HOLE in the header... they missed a spot of welding the collecter! WTF downey!?!?! (and i missed it before re-coating)... my neighbour down the street has a monster arc welder (works for the city) and zapped it closed for me... but now it can rust there... stupid downey... not getting it recoated for that but still... wtf...
[Linked Image]

Headers installed, showing the EGT probe i got welded in... and the EGR flange, which was nicely NOT coated from downey, and was bare rusty metal... again WTF downey? what's wrong with you guys? (i got it coated)
[Linked Image]
Also, the middle / bottom bolt on the driver side header... took 20 minutes... all the other 11 bolts took 15 minutes to tighten... geez.... good work again downey!!! Btw... those flex head gear wrenches saved my again on this one... soooo much easier than a standard wrench...

Got all the engine bay wiring harnesses done...
Ran a 4ga. from the fusebox to a 60A fuse to the battery
Used the stock 4ga. re-loomed from starter to battery
Used stock alt wire (added loom)
Also hooked up 4ga from alt to 150A fuse to battery ("big 3" upgrade)
0 gauge for stereo (not hooked up yet)
Ran a 4ga. ground to the body and another to the engine.
Not the cleanest.. but it works and there is lots of space still...
[Linked Image]

Used the stock brackets for the evap but turned them / spun them until they fit... took a few days to figure it out LOL.. didn't have time to paint yet... trying to get it all running...
[Linked Image]
Another view showing the EVAP hoses as per ORS / TRD specs
[Linked Image]

And the view so far
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

So the rad i bought 3 years ago... was too tall.. had to redrill the brackets... and look at the rad cap, it doesnt stop at the right angle... RRRR.... will probably upgrade to an aluminum PWR rad next year... we'll see... stupid ebay...
Also, the lower rad hose would not fit with my 3" BL, went to napa and found one and cut it to fit... #8971 i believe...
Also, the heater control valve was hitting the bypass valve, had to spin it and redrill it.
Basically, i've had to modify everything to get it all to fit, but it hasn't been too bad... just taking my time. Got all the hoses ran, just need to hook up fuel, power steering return, the aftermarket gauges... for initial start up. Then drive to the shop to get the exhaust made and a battery tray made... smile Should be running this week if all goes well!

Wow, Greg! I bet the ear-to-ear smile that you couldn't wipe off your face didn't help your case with the neighbor, eh?

Taking one's time is sooooo worth it. Lookin' good Greg!

I like my little flex gearheads as well as my flexhead Snapon breaker-rachet too; great tools.
