Almost ready to start peeling rust, got the u bolts cut off, spare tire brackets off, lspv off (which actually still works but is rusted to hell), fuel tank skid off and drained the tank (yay free gas!). Gotta pull the tank and lines and im set to go. Maybe this week but i'm going to jeepkings 101 this weekend with my buddy ('12 rubicon 4dr) and have to wire up the winch on it before we go. Anyways, snapped a pic.

How's your spare tire hoist? Let us know if you succeed in getting the old one off, if you go that route.

Haven't used it since 2006... when i had to get the spare off to do my bodylift... i will try to get it out. 2 bolts ontop i believe... i may have to cut the head off with a grinder, but we'll see... some bolts came out no problem (gas tank skid) but others didn't stand a chance (spare tire brackets)...

Came off no problem. Easiest bolts to come out actually LOL.

Got a little progress done. After swapping an o2 on my buddys acura tl, i swapped in the walboro 255lph fuel pump and new sender/fuel gauge gaskets to the southern tank i bought. Very easy swap.
First the stock setup on the left with new pump and parts on the right

New pump installed with oem fuel line clips

Tank with new dorman seals.

I'm also upgrading to the 90-95 fuel level sender as the 1st gen ones are crap. Just need to find a wiring diagram...

Have some more updates,
I've stripped the frame down for plating, and begun to strip the undercoating off the body so i can fix the bad spots and treat the rusty areas.

I tried using flap discs and material removing discs on the grinder, among some other options and they all took a long time and were very messy. I found an idea yesterday while googling and it worked amazing. I used a dremel multimax tool (think Fein Multimaster) and it stripped the undercoating in short order. I even took a vid for youtube. This is by far the easiest way to strip undercoating.

Here is a shot of underneath that i did mostly with a flap disc (for about 6 hours), then went at it for 10 minutes with the multi max... wow is all i can say.

This took about 10 minutes... with a grinder, atleast an hour, and it would not be able to get into the edges nearly as well

And here is a quick vid i took... sorry, don't know how to embed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_C-YSJwoZmg
