You also mention spline differences between 2.6 and 3.0. Which CVs you use depends on your SQ donor. As you know, your 88 matched the V6's. If the donor is an 87, you need the I4 CVs. (Earlier donors require other/different setups. Search past threads as needed if you are reading this one.)
