I went to the doctor yesterday because I was very sick. I haven't been to the doctor in about 10 years. I tested positive for type a influenza.

In 98 percent of all people who test positive for influenza type A have H1N1. Man it is bad. I have never been so sick in my life. I was feeling tired last week but not sick. It hit me saturday night after dinner. I even said something to my wife about how tired I was last week.

Yesterday was the worst if it. I am feeling better today but am still feelng way down. I cant stand for more than a few minutes without getting weak and have to sit back down. The doctor gave me a note for a week off work. Thankfully I have almost enough vacation built up after going back from layoff to cover the time I'll lose.

NO KIDDING- we share the phones and keyboards at work. Reminds me to ask the admins to get us some bleach wipes.

Just in time for our Japanese tourist season too.

Maintain your fluid intake it if you can; small sips, not all at once. Makes it easier for your body to ingest.

Body Damage is Cool
Take Motrin like 600-800mg every 8 hrs to help with aches and keeps the fever down. TAMIFLU does not cure it. Basically it's all supportive tx. I am an ER nurse and run triage so I am seeing LOTS of folks with Flu symptoms. All are sick but only a very few are real sick. Oh if you have any kidney problems may want to check with Dr on motrin. Lots of fluids Too.

That said, make sure whatever you're taking for aches/fever that you don't have a contraindication if you are taking blood pressure meds; ASK FIRST.

Ah man, that sucks. Hope you get better quick!

I'm coming down with "flu like symptoms" too. Aches, sore throad, chills, runny nose. Ill go to the doctor if it gets worse tomorrow.

A guy I work with, his son has H1N1.

I've been eating DayQuil LiquiCaps during the day and NyQuil ones at night. For the last 2 days I've been waking up wide awake at 12:30am and 4:00am for 2 days. Today is the first day I managed to make myself stay awake all day so Im hoping for a full night of sleep. Its just different when you wake up in the middle of the night.

Headaches off and on. "Running" to the bathroom quite a bit but I haven't been throwing up and can hold water and Dew down fine but have no desire to eat. I had a bowl of Ramen noodles yesterday just to have something in me. I had half a chicken sandwich and about a cup of mac and cheese (gourmet meal w/ kids in the house)for supper tonight and couldnt taste a single bite.

I'm 28 and am not on any other meds. Only health problems I've ever had was pneumonia when I was about 7. My wife said she read that TAMIFLU just hurries it along about a day and a half sooner. For $20 bucks I'll take it.

My buddy called me this morning having the same problems. We work at the same place. He went to the doctor this morning and tested negative but they didn't believe the results. We went to the Bengals game Sunday together but haven't really been around each other for a few weeks. This is bad stuff....

Adam, You said what seems to be the giveaway to the flu, the chills. They are bad and often. Better safe then sorry, get checked out. And thanks to everyone for the well wishes. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> I am for sure getting better already, I'm just weak as hell....

Sounds like you guys need some bleach wipes to take to work also. Ya also need to wipe down every light switch and handle in your house, to include appliances and the like. Tablespoon of bleach in a quart of water should do it for you.

Sounds like the same thing I just got over. All three of us had it in my house. I don't visit the doctor often and generally don't take medication (except Aleve for the occasional headache). I exercised, drank lots of water and got good amounts of sleep while bundled up well. While it wasn't a pleasant experience, it passed in about 5 days.

I may be 34 and overweight, but my immune system is kickin'!

Get better soon, brother!
