Where is the taper on these?
Is it on the OD of the spacer?

Kinda confused on that...

Alex, I've never had a CV blow, nor have had any issues with excessive front-end wear with these installed.

The hardware they come with are M10 / Grade 8 bolts.

Taper is built to offset the camber = keep your arm and balljoint lined up.

You can see on the right one (pic below) the taper angle that is cut from the inner (thick) to the outer (thin)

[Linked Image]

If the taper is not there and it's a solid 1" thick piece of block, then you'll get the effect that Alex and Toasty are referring to.

I've experimented with 12 different blocks ranging from .25 - 1.25 inches and different tapered angles.

The one that we put through the machine shop and what we are selling are the one's that work.

Thickest point is .9" and is tapered down to .80"

So between 7/8 and 3/4 ". A full 1" spacer will not work within the stock means for longevity.

I have 45,000 miles on one Montero with them on and 21,000 miles on the other.

This is as a daily driver for hers and mine we used as an expedition rig down to Mex, back, across Canada, etc... logged on ton of pavement and offpavent miles.

No hard rock crawling, but some good offroading, winching, etc...

They work, otherwise there is no way I would be selling them, let alone giving them away.

... good.. bad.. I'm the guy with the gun.

Ah, makes sense now.

Gives me a new appreciation for the engineering that goes into a modern day suspension.

These are only for gen2 monteros? What is the difference between gen 1 and gen 2 ball joints? I know people upgrade to the gen to A-arms but I don't have a clue what different between the 2? I tried to do a search-several- Could not dig up the answer. I'm just hoping there is a way that these would work on my truck...

gen 2's are longer with bolt on balljoints and gen 1's are short with pressed in ball joints.

gen 2 arms are a bit more beefy also, and with alot of t bar crank they could help cv angles becouse of the length.
