I know what I'm paying, but I won't post it here. If a yard pays scrap prices, the current value is about $7/100 lbs. A SWB Gen1 would now bring about $250. Since clunkers require more risk, more paperwork and the engines are not for resale, the price would be less.

That is all so wrong. So many people out there tight for money. They should be allowed to sell with a salvaged title. Then someone in nead could fix a la new motor and get themselves on the road for a great price.

The goal of moving new stock inventory was achieved. And anyone who could use a salvaged title ride isn't a candidate for a new car, so no cannibalizing there...

IIRC other goal was to get 'clunkers' off the road.
