I forgot to hit appy to my edit above. Check out IC kits on ebay. Looks like no welding required with all those bends.

I friend of mine with a JDM Gallant blew open in intercooler pipe the other day. Instead of buying new soft ones he decided to make his own... except he doesn't have a welder, and was too cehap to buy U-pipe. Instead he used copper plumbing pipe. Bought all the stuff at home depot and put it together last week. He drove it for a day and it worked great... then he belw his tranmission in half (I'm not kidding, he split the case) so I can't tell you the long term performance. I have to say, for the $20 in materials and the fact anyone with a hack saw can build it it seems like a MOD worth trying. The added advantage of copper is that is transfers heat fairly well, so in theory it would be better than steel piping. I'll try and find the post were he got the idea. Maurie

He used sodder, how else would you join copper plumbing pipe?. The boost pressure doesn't have me too worried, I think vibration, expecially on a 4D56 would be the bigger issue.

I'm thinking some copper tubing with silicone couplers onto a front mount intercooler that is larger added with some extra boost from the turbo and an increase in fuel delivery may just bump up my performance in the 4d56 nicely. Maybe while I am at it, just throw on a larger turbo from say an evo??? hahaha.
I read a post from the UK I think and that was all the talk. Then again, where would I get a Turbo from an Evo and really, with the other mods, the one that is in the truck already would probably just work more efficiently.
