..... before getting its engine taken out and de-graded to parts truck status.

A big thanks goes to NCDWrench for pulling the engine (I barely helped), and to Rolling for the use of the trailer and "supervision".

The engine came out without too much trouble, its dirty but for only 80k on the rebuild (previous owner rebuilt it) it still has a lot of life in it. It will be going to Mud Raider to live on in another truck. Parts I am keeping like the clutch, alternator, starter, etc will be kept as spares. And the carburetor will be going to the future brown brother coming soon:

Jason did a lot of work using a come-a-long (sp?) to get it up on the trailer after the work was done. We stopped at a Chinese Buffet on the way back for some food, and then the Red Raider got to do its part in pulling the silver truck back to its resting spot:

My neighbors probably threw parties during the day thinking the Silver thing in my front yard was gone for good. Little did they know it would be back before sundown. So the Silver Truck isn't going anywhere, it will be hanging around as a parts truck and will get to live on sitting in its resting spot at the top of my driveway. The brown one will get to keep it company at least for a little while as it waits to get the carburetor switched over etc.

The raider was owned by an old man that barely drove it has less then 100K on it. No body damage. One of his grandkids got it hot and fried it pretty well.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
got a chance to rewire the trailer and wire the brakes, paint it,re-grease rear bearings, check brakes to make sure everything was fine all on concrete, and test the trailer brakes. so i didnt mind. but still need new tires for it.

88 raider 4.3 about to be parted out.

The Silver Raider was technically my first vehicle (not counting the Jeep YJ that I drove for 6 months), and even just getting the engine pulled left me with mixed feelings. But loosing an engine and gaining another truck seems to be worth it. Who knows the Silver truck in the future may turn into a project rig. Only time will tell. But I do know for sure, it won't be going to the crusher any time soon.

I was going to title this thread "The Silver Raider's Day Out", like a children's book title. I thought it was funny at the time, but I decided naaah.

Want me to come strip silver truck for you? I did it for Brendan, and I promise you won't feel a thing. I had that truck processed in about 3 days

You need to get down here and wheel if anything . The brown truck was supposed to be towed here (here as in charlotte) today, and Mud Raider will be picking up the long block Thursday. So I may have the brown truck purchased by friday, we will see.
