It won't stay running unless I'm giving it gas. The battery/charge light is on. I have a brand new battery and both it and the alternator have been tested and are good. I've checked all fuses and fusible links, but nothing. I've recently put a new head gasket on it. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor. 40psi on the fuel pressure. The injectors and cold-start injector is getting fuel. Timing is good...I had recently discovered that the crank was off by about 2 degrees and the distributor was off about 2 teeth, which is why it now stays running as long as the accelerator was being pushed.

Vacuum leak? Could be a cracked intake hose. Or rotten/cracked vacuum lines.

You checked your timing with a light? Jumped the diag. connecter under the hood? Fixed the distributor issue?

What is the voltage with the truck running? NOT what the truck's gauges say, but what does a MULTIMETER say?

Also recheck the TPS to make sure it's set up correctly; root of all evil. Sounds like you're trying to chase down 2 problems, not just one.

What would be the cause of the battery light being on though?

Check your brake fluid level for starters on that one, just to rule it out, esp if you've checked other basic stuff.

Could mean your alternator is failing. Thats what happened when mine went out, even though the dash gauge read normal.

Did you ever put a multimeter to the battery while running? How about a load test while running?

Alternator is good. I had it tested.

Well, forget that.

Start the truck, have someone sittin' in the cab keepin' it runnin, and put a volt-meter across the battery, and see what kinda voltage it's puttin out.

It's a brand new battery. I brought it in to Pep Boys where it was purchased and they tested it for me and it tested as brand new.
