I dont care what the parts store tells you.

TEST IT YOURSELF, ON THE TRUCK. With all your accessories running.

Just do it.

Do you have a multimeter? You can buy one for $3 at Harbor Freight.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
So I had a mobile diagnostic service come out to look at the 4Runner today.

There is a wiring problem with the alternator. It's not keeping the battery charged. Also, the compression in the #6 cylinder is 0. The #5 cylinder is 150 (in spec) but slow to build up. I plan on doing a leakdown test next week. I just have to go to Harbor Freight to pick up a tester. I don't want to go tearing into the valve cover just yet.

Told ya to check that alternator

Check the "charge" fuse.

If its good, take the alternator out and inspect the brushes

Also inspect the wiring harness for the alternator, namely the B+ wire and the condition of the main plug.
