Please ask ur Mechanic friend how he thinks the transfer case went out due to having ur tire size???? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

...or ask me.

I've done it too. Excess wheelspin with the front end coming down hard can shock-load the front diff and tcase, causing the demise of both.

The tcase chain tends to stretch and jump the cogs, giving a ratcheting sound that can also be deceptively similar to the front diff side/spider gears shearing teeth.
