I found this link on the net that has to do with driveline noise. And I read a whole bunch of other forums that all came to this conclusion and/or exssesive blows to the T-case itself from previous owners abuse. Hope it helps.

I really don't understand how tire size would be an issue <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
I'd need to hear the logic behind it.

Stock tire and alloy rim = 43lb, 31" on steelies = 70lb.

More weight to spin up and more weight to slow down through the tcase. When you lose traction these forces are acting on the tcase. Exactly the same reason you wear out your brakes quicker with big tires (more than you would reasonable expect "numerically" correcting for odometer inaccuracies).

Need a Spot
I managed to find one out of an automatic in the US - good thing I live close to the border. $ 225 USD out of a 2002 with 48000 miles. Border guy didn't charge any duty either. I've had the sporty since new and had 30's on their since almost day one. The 31's with alum rims ( weigh less then steel )have been on for 2 years. It's always had regular fluid changes since it was my wife's/family vehicle until recently, so I was kinda upset that it did what it did.Anyways new one is in and I went out hunting again- so far Ok
