I've been using the metal ones on my work truck. I do a lot of off road or BLM road travel and so far have not had a failure or any problems with them in over 80K miles. I switched after having sliced a couple of the rubber ones. I was worried they might bend or break in mud, snow, or rocks but so far so good.
