Personally, Mobil1 is great if you like to increase the cost of maintaining your vehicle.

Gage your oil changes by your driving habits.

Short drives with lot of stop and go require more frequent oil changes.

Basically, if the manufacture specifies Mobile1, use it. Otherwise, save your $$$ and use conventional oil. In most cases, you will see about a 2 to 1 advantage. Two regular oil changes are about equal to the cost of one synthetic oil change.

I've just put Castrol Synth blend gear lube in my 99 Runner's pumpkins; will see how that goes this winter. I considered Mobil 1, but with the rear axle seals being kind of tempermental on this gen Runner, opted for the Castrol blend.

Thought they were gonna grenade a couple times last winter at -50F... poor ol' clutch took it rather unkindly too.

Just FWIW for the northern latitude folks. I use dino juice for the mill, but then I've got an oil pan heater, so no biggie.
