Well, hopefully after the US pulled out of there, it's no longer an armpit. I'll never forget on my ship they determined through a blind survey that ~80% of the guys who went into town and 'partook' caught something. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

I was smart. I spent my time there on base. I guess I'm not much for Russian roulette. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif" alt="" />


We did go through Olongapo and it looks just as seedy as I remembered it. We also went through Clark and Angeles and it's still quite the...er..."garden spot".

I forgot to mention: my girlfriend's oldest son is a Captain in Philippines Special Forces. He got me some range time on base. We shot the .45 and the SAW. I haven't fired the SAW in about 11 years. It was just as lovely an experience as I remembered. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
