Getting the Wheeling Fever
Excellent work. Inspiring progress for all of us LS owners out there. How hard was the rear axle swap? What all did you need to swap out?

Thanks! No, the rear axle swap was not difficult. A lot easier than a front diff swap. The rear is straight forward. An impact wrench and a good breaker bar helps a lot. Plus you'll need a torque wrench that goes over 150ftlbs (can't remember the exact spec for the trailing arms and panhard bar). I think my rear axle was from a 95 SR. You need to be sure the donor truck has a 3.5L engine, which means it's a 'big' axle. I did the swap on my own and moved the axles around with wheels on them. Those axles are very heavy.

For completeness I suppose it would be a good idea to link to other stuff I have done;

Rear frame chop and lift

Center pod gauge discussion and install

I need to post up about the fun I had fixing my leaking heater core last year.

And for nostalgia, here's my truck for first summer I had it in '06, before I molested it <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
