Need a Spot
All,
I just bought a 89 montero sport, 3.0 automatic. It is in pretty good condition, but has been sitting awhile. The calipers are froze, etc. Since this is my first mitsubishi ever I'd like some help on figuring out what I have.

What is gen1 vs genII ( what are the years?)
How can I tell if I have LSD,etc.
The hubs are electric.
What are the main pain points on this car/truck?

I bought it because it looks far cooler than the normal jeep, etc and seems to be much more rugged and utilitarian. It is going to be the third vehicle so not alot of miles will be put on it.

Thanks for any input.

Alan

Welcome to our forum!

Gen 1's are 82-91 gen 2's are 92-00.

I imagine your's is a 2 door, Your title probably says Montero Sport but just ignore that because later (1997) Mitsubishi actually made a completely different unrelated SUV called Montero Sport (Actually the SUV variant of their pickup). This confuses people especially when buying parts so leave the sport part out.

Gen II begins is 92. Do you have headlight washers and a bouncy seat? If so, look for the orange sticker on the DS door jam for the LSD.
