All 3.0 3.5 and 3.8 blocks have the same bellhousing and motor mount mounting locations. So yes, from what I have seen it should bolt in. BUT the biggest problems you would have is the electronics matching up. might have to use the MM intake.

I thought about useing the 24 valve quite a few years back, untill I learned of all the stuff I'd have to do, esp. in CA to meet emmissions.
Whole wiring harness and ECU and stuff like drilling/ welding 4 O2 sensor mounts for the 24valve setup.
If I was gonna go to all that trouble I'd get the 3.5 or 3.8 SOHC.

That 99 Sport engine will bolt up to the bellhousing fine. The side mounts may be a bit different though and may need some mix& match to bolt up.

That swap will make a nice driving pickup.

FYI: I was told by a fellow on outerlimits, that the 6g72 and 6g74 have slightly different mounts. That require some modification.

so my plan is to have complete obd2 with the bigger sport gas tank and evaporate system.
what else should i try and swap over?
I was thinking power door locks would be nice <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
the front wishbones are toast but the brakes seem ok.

I look forward to you doing a "how to" ... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
Maybe someday I'll do something like that , that is if I can move outta CA.
I'm still getting by with my crank snout damaged 3.0 12 valve. When the leaks finally cause my T-belt to break or bearings to seize maybe I'll do a 3.5 SOHC. I find more wrecked 2wd M.S.s than other mitsus in the yards anyway.
God luck <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
