Later on I found out that the Starion trannies came with a cast pan. I liked mine better since it held about a 1/2 qt more lube.
Damn, I threw away a Quest tranny after I cannibalized it for the OD gear and tailshaft bearings that time when mine threw the back nut. Would have swapped the cast cover over... Only the later Starion transmissions have the cast AL pan. 83-87's had a stamped pan like the KM145.

I may be interested in one. I'm planning to go to a bigger turbo. Perhaps an 18G. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I would be interested in one of these for my KM132. The KM145 trannies are much more suseptable to failure than the KM132 because when you put power through the tcase they tend to twist. But I think both trannies would greatly benifit.
I have never had any issues with running a KM145 behind my 2.3 diesel and it puts out alot more torque than stock. My complaint has always been the clutch, not the tranny. I blow through clutches every 40k miles. I went with a Centerforce II clutch recently and "Wow" what a difference. It sure puts the power to the wheels. I just hope it lasts.

So would a good cross member that bolts to the tcase a,d/or tranny help? I would think it would? You could make a nice skid with it too...

I received a quote back from one of the machine shops I am working with. Completely out of sight. Asked him for some VA/VE ideas and still discussing with a second source.

Off Topic My brother use to work at Klune about 10 years ago, back before I was into off road and had access to the machine shop and engineers. On one occasion the counter top of my stove was damaged during my move, he took it to work and returned it to me looking like new. At work I had a Mac and he created a custom "stand" so I could attached to my desk, all for free. A couple weeks back talking to my brother about the Mohave trip, he tell his story about when he work at Klune that he use to due side project for the founders son who was into rock crawling and they were at that time doing R&D on the Klune-v transfer cases and going out to the "dessert" to test it out. If only he still work there the possibilities for my Raider.
