Just show up...there used to be an organized event a few years ago, but these days it is just friends getting together, with trail runs organized around the campfire the evening before.

FYI most campers stay at Portal RV, most motel-ers stay at Red Rock (both are relatively cheap, group tent camping is $8/person/night at Portal), but others stay wherever they feel like and drop by the campground and/or motel to figure out what is going on.
