Is that 2" of play in the wheel or the steering assembly?

Contact Ted at engnbldr.com or the PO and verify if you need the earlier timing chain kit for it. Damned shame you're letting it go.

Ahh man, don't fold on the old girl. There has to be other ways of gathering the money. I've been, and actually still am, in your same situation, but I always come through. Work overtime. Side jobs. Second job. Sell stuff you dont use. Just dont sell the Toy!

ok so i was going to rebuild the front axle on this yota and got to hunting around and found a new front axle for it for $100 what im not sure of is if toyota used the same gears from year to year the new axle is out of a 77 and my truck is a 85 mine had the 5 spd but now has 4 spd the new axle is out of a 77 with the 4 speed the next question is if the gears are different can i just swap the 3rd members? then i was looking at my front axle and it is so warn that the housing is shot so a swap is about the only way to go let me know what you thing thanks

I don't think Toyota made a solid front mini-truck axle until '79. 3rd member can swap if you need to change gearing. If that is really a '77 axle, it is likely out of a LandCruiser and would not be a direct swap.
