It is a 2wd Amigo, once the engine and transmission have been removed and replaced in the back there would really be no change in weight, just where it was centered. Could also build a very large gas tank to put in the front. CV's and CV axles can be built to spec for the right price. The factory ones are pretty strong to begin with. Just think, guys swap in 3800's and Buick V8's onto that trans-axle and CV shafts, course they do have to eventually upgrade them.

The engine would be transplanted in the same orientation as in the Fiero to keep just rear wheel drive. Another thought would be to put it in the front longitudinally with its trans-axle attached to custom drive shafts into diffs at the front and back lowering the gear ratio. Making it an ideal crawler...

But... If I am going to that much trouble, why not just buy or build a tube frame, insert; engine, trans-axle, and front and rear solid axles. Then cut and past Amigo body over top...

This is so far outside of my budget, and I don't think I could do that to my Amigo, but it sure is fun to day dream about all the possibilities isn't it? I think it would be a pretty cool show car, a shiny Isuzu Amigo with a mid-engine, 24 inch rims, mudders that just fit in the wheel wells, air springs, and one heck of sound system....<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
